For Dr. Wobben, the Founder Chairman of Enercon GmbH, it all started with a dream. The dream to protect the natural world from polluting fossil fuels and risk-ridden nuclear power by generating reliable energy in abundance from a source as clean as wind. To him wind energy was the answer to a lot of prayers. It is safe, inexhaustible and free. In the years to come, Dr. Wobben himself would go on to prove it to be one of the cheapest ways of reducing the world's output of greenhouse gases.

Milestones
- As of 30th June 2004 15,797 WEC’s with a rated power of 15.327 MW were installed in the Federal Republic of Germany, which makes Germany the Wind market number 1 in the world.

- Enercon has installed 1563 MW till date,consolidating its position as the second largest wind energy company in the world.
- Enercon installed the world's largest Wind Energy Converter E-112 at Eglen near Magdeburg,Germany.
- Enercon in 2002 accomplished the highest contribution of in - house component manufacturing in the entire industry.
- Enercon has come up with Models E-33 and E-48 machines in Year2004 with revolutionary change in Blade Design.
- In Year 2004, Enercon accomplished to be the only WEC manufacturer in India to setup Concrete Tower Factory with regular production.
